Detailed Itinerary
Quick Briefing
Your guide collects you from your hotel in Merzouga and drives you to our base at the edge of Erg Chebbi, usually less than ten minutes away. You choose your vehicle (quad, buggy or a seat in the 4x4), then get fitted with a helmet and goggles and wrap a scarf around your face against the dust.
The briefing takes about ten minutes: how the throttle and brakes work, how to sit on a climb and a descent, and the hand signals the guide uses in the dunes. You practise a few laps on flat sand until you feel comfortable, so nobody heads into the dunes unsure of the controls.
Dune Adventure
The guide leads you onto the first ridges of Erg Chebbi, where the dunes rise gently from the plain. You learn to keep a steady speed on soft slopes and to slow down before each crest, then the route climbs toward a higher viewpoint with a wide view across the orange sand sea.
On the way you stop at a nomad family's camp near the dunes. It is a short, informal visit: a look at the tent, the goats and the simple way of life of the families who still herd animals here, with time for questions through your guide. There are several photo stops, and the guide is happy to take pictures of you riding.
Return
The last part of the ride heads back over smaller dunes to the base, giving you a final taste of the sand at your own pace. Back at camp you can take off your gear, drink cold water and look through your photos.
The whole experience, including briefing and return, fits easily into a morning or late afternoon. Your guide then drops you back at your hotel, and can suggest a longer ride or a night in a desert camp if you want more.

Safety Information
