A 4x4 is the most comfortable way to see Morocco's range of landscapes, and it reaches more of them than anything else. Our vehicles get to remote places a normal car cannot, from deep desert tracks to mountain passes. An experienced driver-guide handles the difficult ground. You sit back and watch the scenery change.

Our 4x4 trips run from half-day desert tours to 14-day cross-country routes. You might want to explore Erg Chebbi, cross the Atlas Mountains or drive all the way from Tangier to Marrakech. We have a 4x4 itinerary for each of those.

Why 4x4?

A 4x4 is safer and more comfortable, and it gets you to places other vehicles cannot. It suits families, older travellers and anyone who would rather enjoy the trip than take on the physical effort of driving a quad or buggy. For multi-day expeditions it is also the best option we have.

Morocco by Toyota Prado

A 4x4 opens up the places that ordinary cars and coaches cannot reach: dune edges, desert pistes, dry riverbeds and mountain tracks. You travel in an air-conditioned Toyota Prado with space for up to six passengers, and your driver-guide does all the work. It is the most comfortable way to explore off-road Morocco, whether for a half day around Merzouga or two weeks across the country.

Short trips around the dunes

From Merzouga, our 4x4 desert tours visit the places around Erg Chebbi that are too far for a quad: the fossil quarries, the palm oases of the Tafilalet, nomad camps on the hamada and the market town of Rissani. The nomad experience is a guest favourite for families.

Longer expeditions

For multi-day trips, the 4x4 becomes your base. Routes link the desert with the Todra and Dades gorges, the High Atlas and, from the north, the Rif mountains. See our multi-day tours for two to seven days or the grand expeditions for longer routes across Morocco.

Why travel with a driver-guide

Desert pistes change after every storm, and some tracks are not on any map. Our guides know which routes are open, where to find shade, fuel and a good lunch, and how to talk with the families you meet along the way. You get to look out of the window instead of at the GPS.
