The 2 Hour Quad, Buggy & 4x4 Desert Tour gives you twice the time of our shortest ride. That extra hour takes you deeper into the Erg Chebbi dune field, into areas the shorter tours cannot reach. You get proper dune driving, a visit to a nomadic family and some quiet time in remote parts of the desert. There is also room to stop for photos, talk with local nomads and take in the Sahara at an easy pace instead of rushing back to base.

Detailed Itinerary
Briefing & Departure
After hotel pick-up in Merzouga, you arrive at our base and choose between quad, buggy or 4x4. The guide fits your helmet and goggles and runs through the controls and safety rules, then you practise on flat ground until you feel ready.
The group sets off on firm sand along the edge of the dunes. This first stretch is gentle on purpose, so you can get used to the throttle and the way the vehicle moves on sand before the bigger slopes.
Dune Bashing & Nomad Visit
With two hours, the route goes deeper into Erg Chebbi than the one-hour ride. You cross a series of rolling ridges, learn to climb with steady momentum and follow the guide's line down the far side. Several stops on high dunes give wide views over the sand sea and the dark hamada plain beyond it.
Halfway through, you visit a nomad family for mint tea poured the traditional way, from height, into small glasses. Your guide translates, so you can ask about life in the desert, water, herding and how the families move with the seasons.
Deep Desert & Return
After tea, the route continues into a quieter part of the dunes where you rarely meet other vehicles. This is the best moment for photos: long shadows, sharp ridges and empty sand in every direction.
You then return to base by a different line, so the ride never feels repetitive. Cold water is waiting, and your guide drives you back to your hotel.

The extra hour lets us take the same automatic quads and harnessed buggies further into Erg Chebbi. The guide vehicle carries more fuel in reserve, and we pack extra bottled water and tea for the nomad-family stop. Safety Information
The route covers more distance, so the guide keeps the convoy at a moderate pace rather than a fast one and stops regularly at viewpoints to regroup, so nobody gets separated in the dunes. If you tire partway through, you can move into the accompanying 4x4 instead of pushing on. Sun protection matters more on a longer ride: bring sunscreen and a hat as well as the scarf and goggles.
