Detailed Itinerary
Briefing
Your guide picks you up from your hotel in Merzouga and drives you to our base at the edge of the dunes. You are introduced to your two-seat buggy, adjust the seat and four-point harness, and put on a helmet and goggles.
The briefing covers the accelerator, brakes and steering, how to climb a dune with steady speed and why you slow down before each crest. You then drive a few practice loops on flat sand until you feel confident.
Dune Driving
Following the guide's tracks, you head into the first ridges of Erg Chebbi. The buggy's roll cage and wide wheelbase make it feel stable, so you can relax and enjoy the climbs and the long, smooth descents.
There are stops at viewpoints where you can step out, take photos and look across the sand sea. If two people share the buggy, you can swap driver and passenger at one of these stops.
Return
The final part of the drive loops back over smaller dunes to the base. You take off the harness and helmet, drink cold water and look through your photos.
