The 2 Hour Buggy Tour takes you further into the Sahara than our one-hour ride. With the extra time we leave the dune field near base camp behind, explore more remote areas, visit a nomadic family and climb to higher viewpoints with wide views over the desert. It mixes driving with a cultural stop, and it is our most popular buggy tour.

Detailed Itinerary
Briefing & Departure
After hotel pick-up, you meet your buggy at our base, adjust the seat and harness, and put on helmet and goggles. The guide explains the controls and the right way to drive on soft sand, then you practise on flat ground.
You leave the base along firm sand at the foot of the dunes, a gentle warm-up before the first climbs.
Dune Bashing & Nomad Visit
The route crosses a series of dunes, with longer climbs and descents than the one-hour tour. The guide stops at high points where the views stretch over Erg Chebbi and the black plain beyond.
Halfway, you visit a nomad family for mint tea. It is a relaxed stop in the shade of the tent, with time to ask about life in the desert. Couples sharing a buggy often swap seats here so both get to drive.
Return
After tea, the guide takes a different route back through quieter dunes, ideal for photos. You return to base, take off your gear and enjoy cold water.
Your guide then drives you back to your hotel.

Equipment Information & Vehicle Details
You drive the same roll-caged, harnessed buggies as on our shorter tour, only further into Erg Chebbi, so we pack extra bottled water and a thermos of Moroccan tea for the nomad-family stop. Helmets are fitted at base camp. Before every group heads out on the longer route, our mechanics inspect the brakes, harnesses and tyres on each buggy. Learn more about our fleet.
Safety Information
There is more dune terrain to cover, so the guide sets a moderate, steady pace and uses hand signals to warn of ridgelines and soft sand well before you reach them. At the highest viewpoint we stop briefly to regroup, catch our breath and check that harnesses are still snug for the return leg. Read our full safety standards.
