How to choose your off-road tour

Every tour on this page starts from one question: how much time do you have in the desert? If you arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon and leave the next morning, a short ride is perfect. With a full day you can circle the dunes. With a week or more, you can cross the country. The filters above sort tours by type; here is how to think about the choice.

A few hours in Merzouga

Short rides give you the dunes of Erg Chebbi at their best, especially at sunset. Choose a quad if you like riding, a buggy if you want a seat and a steering wheel, or a 4x4 if you would rather someone else drives. Prices start at €35 for one hour, with hotel pick-up in Merzouga included.

Two to seven days

Our multi-day tours combine riding with nights in desert camps and visits to the oases, fossil beds and gorges around the Sahara. They are the best value if you want the full experience without planning every detail yourself.

Starting in the north

Arriving by ferry or flying into Tangier or Nador? The northern Morocco tours take you from the Mediterranean and the Rif mountains to the dunes, and the grand expeditions cross the whole country in six to fourteen days.

Tips before you book

• October to April has the most comfortable temperatures; summer rides run early and late.
• No licence is needed for quads or buggies; the minimum age to drive a quad is 15.
• Bring closed shoes, sunglasses and a light jacket for sunset.
